4.9 from the east german jury

When I got up this morning I skipped breakfast. My doctor had told me the last time I saw him that I should visit him around this time and not have breakfast. I made my lunch sandwiches with a rumbling stomach.

At the doctor's office he took a blood sample and checked the glucose level: 4.9. He looked at the result a bit incredulously, "this is a lower level on half the medication than on the normal dose. How did you do that?!?"

"Stress and a clean life," I told him. He didn't look like he believed me, but told me to quit the diabetes medication all together. This is what I've been working towards for the last year. No more pills to take. Glucose levels normal. Now all I have to do is loose another 20 kilos…

I walked out of his office in a happy mood, past the police station on 's Gravesandeplein.

I walked through the Oosterpark, where I saw two crows sitting in a tree. When I tried to take their photo, one of them flew away. They're not as tame as Vincent's doves. I took a photo of the remaining one and pushed on to Muiderpoort Station where I got on the bus to work.

At work I tried to figure out why something worked in the Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers, but not in Safari. It needs more investigation, since I didn't finish the job. In the afternoon, management dropped a 30 page document on my desk which had been produced by an external company for a lot of money and they weren't happy with it. Could I do a better job? Hell, yes! I told them not to pay the outside guys but give me the money in stead and I would do a better job. Management laughed and just dropped it on the desk. I had a draft version ready by 16:00 with a complete new layout, and a lot of errors corrected. I hope they're happy with it.

In other news: It looks like I've started loosing weight again. The last two weeks I had been bouncing between 99 and 100 kilos. I had been eating lots of carbohydrates (bad), chocolate (bad), drinking whiskies (bad) and yet managed to lower my glucose levels. This morning the weight trend was going down again. Let's hope this continues for a while. I'm back at eating salads again for a change. I'm sure that'll help.

As you wrote about passing that policestation I realised the big mistake you've made!!
You chould have commited a crime a year ago because they would never have recognized you now!

Dark chocolate (>=72%) is said to be a "good carb" (low glycemic load), so unless you eat it by the kilo it shouldn't trash your diet.

Myself, I am quite fond of 85% dark chocolate, although some people might find it too bitter.

Well done Kees. The less pills the better. Something to be proud of!
